edged strips of cotton, osnaburg,
canvas & silk. Bobbin quilted with
primarily perle cotton threads and
couched with various decorative threads. |
Rich
looking cottons and silks criss-crossed
couched with various decorative threads
leaves an impression of fire, sand
and earth. |
An exercise
in three dimensional quilting. Though
not in solar system order, the various
circles are meant to represent the
planets. |

Whimsical
free hand cut circles. Satin stitched
appliqué with various rayon threads.
Inspired by Dianne S. Hines. |
After
reading Gwen Marston's book on "Liberated
Quiltmaking", I threw conventions
to the wind and "Free at

was born. |

Exquisite
Japanese fabrics showcase the
planets, the subdued Japanese
crane fabric, the universe. |
Inspired
by Kaffe Fassett's crazy squares.
An exercise in obtaining a subtle
flow not only of colours but also
of the tile placement. |
Reflects
the wonderful movements that
can be obtained when playing
with circles. Black fabric depicts
the darkness of winter, white,
grey and silver the beauty of
the ice and snow.

Sunny
cheerful fabrics make this happy
quilt, inspired by Judy Murrah. |
An
exercise in 3-dimensional quiltmaking.
Blocks were made to look as if
dangling on ribbons with some
tumbling to the ground as if
pulled by gravity. |
Another
play on shapes and design.

A
fabric exchange of 400- 2 ½ inch
squares inspired this quilt,
set rail fence style. The result
reminded me of light flowing
through a stained glass window. |
An
attempt to make a colour flow
from a nine-patch exchange of
144 blocks which was not easy
since the blocks were not planned
for that purpose. |
Gorgeous
Japanese fabrics seemed highly
suitable for Kimono Wedding,
based on Sylvia Einstein's modified
Double Wedding Ring pattern.

appliqued onto coarse linen which

My
Autumn (Fall) fabrics seemed
appropriate for making a more
subtle variation of the tradition
Tumbling Blocks pattern. |
A
variation of an old favorite, result
of a Round Robin. |
A
variation of an old traditional
pattern. The border is made from
Smithsonian reproduction fabric
to emphasize the old fashioned
look.
