Larry Roebuck
Lead Guitar, Vocals
Home Town - Wellington
I was born April 1953 in Deseronto, Ontario. My wife, Sandra and I married March 1973 and we have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Sandra and I moved to The County in 1984.
I'm self taught on guitar, playing for my family and friends. Never took a lesson and it shows. My main influences were The Beatles and Rock n Roll. My wife was a country fan so my musical horizons were expanded.
I was asked to play lead guitar for a newly formed band from Napanee called “The Country Squires” in 1977. We played from Brockville to Cobourg and Picton to Maynooth, almost every weekend until 1988 when the band split up on good terms. I joined a new band in Belleville in the fall of 1988 called “Freightliner” and played lead guitar until 1991. They split up because of direction problems.
I had a ball playing music and making people happy with both bands but after awhile it becomes a second job and when the fun stopped so did I. I quit playing professionally in the winter of 1991 and hardly played again until “Grampa’s Goodtime Gang” lost a member in the spring of 1997 and asked me to join. The fun was back and, as they say, “we were off to the races”, playing music that I thought I never would play and found out it was a blast.
My music horizon was expanded again and I’m loving it.
Over the years I’ve appreciated the friends and fans and band members who keep me playing, especially the people of Prince Edward County. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hope to see you at the next gig, come up and say Hi and let me make a new friend.
Happy trails,
Larry
