Bud Gregory
Accordian, Harmonica, Vocals
Home Town - Picton
I was born in Toronto and lived there and in Mississauga until 1988.
My father gave me a harmonica at about age six, and I began
to teach myself to play it. We also had a piano so I gradually
began to pick out melodies on that. My main musical taste
ran to classical.
We moved to the County upon my retirement, and for the first time
saw Grampa’s Goodtime Gang perform at Lions Park on Athol Day. I was so impressed by what I saw, and the fun they where
having that I dug up the old harmonica and decided that this was
what I wanted to do in my retirement.
I met some of the members of the gang, and they asked me to come to a practice. I guess I must have passed. Soon afterwards
the accordian player, Jack Jones, retired from the band and I was
asked to fill in for a while. Well I’m still waiting 17 years later to
learn whether I was hired. I guess I’m still on trial.
In my previous life I was a Member of the Provincial Parliament, and held several Cabinet posts.
I served 6 years as a member of the Prince Edward County Police
Services Board and currently sit as President of the Picton Golf and Country Club.
I look forward to future years with Grampa’s Goodtime Gang.
